Agatha Christie's Radio Play

'Butter in a Lordly Dish'

An eminent prosecution barrister and seasoned womaniser, bites off more than he can chew when the case of a serial killer comes back to haunt him. A tense, one-act thriller featuring one of Christie’s most gruesome murders. Thank goodness it's 'on the radio' - but have our stand-in sound operators also bitten off more than they can chew!

'Ruby of Elsinore' by Bruce Kane

This play is certainly Shakespeare with a twist when Hamlet's leading characters let their hair down at Ruby's hairdressing salon. Find out what's on their minds and how Ruby, the hairdresser with attitude, dispenses her advice.

Join us for an evening of fun and laughter.

Harrogate Studio Theatre
18th - 21st June 2025

Loosely based on a true story, this comedy-drama follows the ups and downs of getting Shakespeare's First Folio printed.

It was first performed at the RSC Fringe Festival in 2001 (so we are in good company).

Our Most Recent Production A Christmas Carol

Our SOLD OUT production of A Christmas Carol in November was a resounding success.

Our audiences thoroughly enjoyed this version of the classic tale adapted by our very own Howard Atkin. We saw some sterling performances from members old and new. The music elements were very well received so a big thank you to Peter Pozman for his performances and his guidance during rehearsals. It was a great job by all the team who really enjoyed the experience

One Act Festival 2024

Following on from our innovative and award winning 2024 production of '23 Hill End Lane' written and directed by Alison Gilmour we are sad that, for reasons beyond their control, the Nidderdale Festival,  won't take place this year but will resume in 2026

AETF Report on Nidderdale Festival 2024  Frazer Theatre, Knaresborough. 6th April, Adjudicator Susan Doherty.
The evening began with 23 Hill End Lane, written and directed by Woodlands Drama Group playwright, Alison Gilmour. The play, a piece of visual storytelling describing the adventures of a man and a woman who decided to leave their cottage and village for the first time, was made accessible to a wide-ranging audience including those who are deaf by being signed by a BSL signer on the night and was a first for this festival. Woodlands Drama Group applied for and were awarded an AETF Heritage Award for this work.
It was followed by Harrogate Dramatic Society’s Warfield Lane, written and directed by Chris Rawson for which they won the Adjudicator' Award for their ensemble work. The programme ended with Pateley Bridge Dramatic Society who were overall winners with A Game by Dennis E Noble. They also won several other awards, including Best Actress for Carol Bailey and Best Actor for Hugh Cawley.
